Sheffield Engineers Rugby Football Club is one of the fastest growing grass roots amateur rugby clubs in Yorkshire. Since the club was founded in 2013 by students from the University of Sheffield, there have been over 200 members both past and present, making us one of the fastest growing clubs in Yorkshire. We currently field 2 teams in competitive fixtures every weekend in the Yorkshire Rugby Football Union leagues.

The 1st XV have just completed their sixth season in the Yorkshire Merit Championship league and continue to show exciting progress. Even after a difficult year of fixtures at the best standard the club has ever played in, the team qualified for the end of season playoffs – a real achievement considering the club’s age.

The 2nd XV play in the Yorkshire Merit South District League every weekend, enabling new players to get experience playing in Yorkshire and for those who have never played rugby before to get regular game time. The 2nd XV have had a difficult season in their new, higher league, but with continued development and a fresh wave of talented players set to arrive in September we are confident that a top 3 finish is highly achievable in the coming season.

As a club, we are continually expanding and this year have also managed to put out a 3rd development team against other university teams.

The Club regularly gets up to 60 members on social events, and our members stem from a variety of different courses and year groups. Fundamentally, however, we do remain an Engineering team who work hard on the field, but play harder. We have an annual tour away for the club, with previous destinations of Croatia and Italy.

This is truly the most exciting time in the clubs short history, and therefore we would really appreciate any support you might be able to offer. We look forward to you joining us for the 2020-2021 Season.

Committee

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
