Amnesty International Society
Political, Campaigning or Charity
Amnesty International is one of the world's biggest human rights organisations, and the world's biggest grassroots human rights organisation. We are ordinary people from around the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied. Here at Sheffield University, as part of Amnesty International, we campaign for human rights; working for the release of people imprisoned solely for the peaceful expression of their beliefs, or campaigning against torture.
We hold regular letter-writing sessions, meetings, speakers' visits and actions. Everyone is welcome to come along at any point, and membership is completely free :)

Committee
All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
