Chamber Choir Society
Sheffield University Chamber Choir (SUCC) is the official choir for the University's Department of Music. It brings together the best singers and choristers from around the university to sing a large range of both fun and demanding repertoire in at least two concerts each year. Recently, the choir performed its Spring Concert in Firth Hall, which included works such as Eric Whitacre’s Seal Lullaby and Mendelssohn’s Lieder im Freien zu singen. There is also the opportunity for members of the choir to audition to conduct or compose a piece for the choir to sing, and for those who would like to, sing a solo piece in the concert.
We are a fun and friendly choir who hold rehearsals on Wednesday evenings in the music department during term time. Our rehearsals give choristers the chance to learn an exciting repertoire, and develop their musical and vocal skills followed by post-rehearsal drinks each week! A wide variety of socials are held regularly each semester. Socials a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and join a fun and relaxed group of like-minded people.
Audtitions have already taken place for the academic year 2019/20. We audition in week 1 of the autumn semester. If you've missed out this year keep an eye out for details on auditions for the academic year 2020/21.
Wednesdays 4pm-6pm - full compulsory rehearsal
Plus an extra weekly sectional - organised to fit your schedule!
All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
