Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine Society
Medical Society Sub-CommitteeJoin This Group
We are the Sheffield Infectious Diseases & Tropical Medicine Society, aka SIDSoc!
As a friendly group of exotic medics, our goal is to bring together like-minded people interested in various health topics, and to infect them with our own virulent strain of topical talks, infectious debates, communicable teaching and much more…
Our society aims to provide educational events to our members, phase relevant resources, and awesome socials. In the past, through effective collaboration with ID and microbiology professionals in the field including our very own honorary president Professor Paul Collini, MSF doctors, and Royal Navy surgeons, we have delivered educational talks, stories from the frontline, medical elective talks, career guidance, and a successful Global Health Month packed with all things infectious diseases. Our Phase 2B microbiology handbook concluded to be a success for aiding exam revision.
The ID Department has been hard at work behind the scenes with the COVID-19 vaccine trials, and as a society we have mustered student volunteers to lend a helping hand.
Regardless if you are an infectious diseases fanatic or have simply become more curious during the COVID-19 pandemic, we promise to provide something that sparks your interest…
SidSoc, Committee 2020/21
All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
