The University of Sheffield's Japan Society is one of the biggest and most active Japanese Societies in the UK. The University of Sheffield has a vibrant and diverse student base, and is one of Europe's leading centers for the study of Japan, China and Korea, guaranteeing plenty of students with common interests – but we're more than just a club for Japanese students studying in Britain. We're different from most other national societies in that Japan Society is for students of any nationality and any degree who share an interest in Japan and Japanese culture to come together and have fun. Japan Society brings to you cultural visits to the beautiful towns and countryside surrounding Sheffield, Japanese film nights, weekly tandem socials, language exchange events, cultural events, classes and seminars, quarterly parties and much more! So come along and keep an eye out for upcoming events! There are many other benefits to becoming a full member of our society aside from the vibrant social aspects of Japan Soc - we are sponsored by Revolution Sheffield so our members receive a free Revolution discount card with some mean offers!

How To Join: Sign up on this site, email japansoc@sheffield.ac.uk or come to any of our events! Who Can Join: The society is open to ANY member of a UK university, or those who generally comply with the rules and regulations of the university. In short, the society is open to everyone! Committee

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
