Labour Students Society
Political, Campaigning or CharitySheffield Labour Students welcomes all students at The University of Sheffield who are members of the Labour Party, or interested in finding out more about what The Labour Party is all about. We have regular meetings, speaker events with MPs, campaigning sessions, and plenty of socials!
We've held events with speakers such as Louise Haigh, David Blunkett, and Paula Sherriff. We've been to Sheffield Pride, Reclaim the Night, Black Lives Matter Protests, and National NUS demonstrations. We've run charity campaigns for access to Sanitary Products for all, campaigned to remain in the EU, attended National Labour Party and National Labour Students conferences, and campaigned for the Labour Party in general elections as well as locals across the country.
We also have specific separate groups for different liberation groups, with a BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic) Caucus, Women's Caucus, LGBT+ Caucus, Transgender Caucus and Disabled Students' Caucus. Each of these groups holds regular meetings, campaigns, and socials to ensure that our society is always accessible and safe for everyone to join in with.
How to get involved:
It's just £1 to join the Labour Party as a student, and £1 to join us here at Sheffield Labour Students.
If you believe in Labour's values of equality and social justice, then come along to one of our meetings or events!
Like us on Facebook, and Join our Facebook discussion group to keep up to date with all of our events and news.
All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
