Marxist Society

Political, Campaigning or Charity

The Sheffield Marxist Society is one of 30 sister societies in the Marxist Student Federation which are active across the UK. We are educating students and young people in the ideas of Marxism and fighting to overthrow capitalism as “without revolutionary theory, there can be no revolutionary movement.” This motto is practised through our regular discussions and reading groups, which are instrumental in preparing our comrades for work within the labour and student movements.

Through our campaigns, we have successfully forged close links with the labour movement and working class, on and off campus. In the 2019 general election, we campaigned tirelessly for a socialist Labour government. We have also picketed alongside striking workers, from lecturers, to train workers, to Papa John’s workers. We have also been involved in the climate strike protests and the recent A-level student movement against inequality.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen a massive attack on worker’s livelihoods, but the worst is yet to come. Capitalism is in a deep crisis. Join us to educate yourself in Marxism and organise for revolution!

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
