Mechanical Engineering Society

ABOUT THE SOCIETY The Mechanical Engineering Society organises industrial, social and sports events throughout the year for our members. We thrive ourselves in offering our members as many opportunities as possible in all aspects of university life. We want to bring Engineers together. MAKE SURE TO LIKE OUR FACEBOOK PAGE, THIS IS WHERE WE SEND OUT MOST OF OUR COMMUNICATION.  INDUSTRIAL TALKS AND VISITS We aim to give engineering students (not just mechanical but from other disciplines as well) exposure to the applications of the courses they are taking, out in the real world, through visits to local companies such as Forgemasters and Gripple as well as to industry giants like Rolls-Royce & BAE Systems. SOCIALS AND TOUR Along with this we provide opportunities for our members to socialise with fellow engineers (as well as anyone else who wants to join in!) by organising bar crawls, brewery visits and larger events such as go-karting or paintballing! Not to mention the end of year ball which is always an event to look forward to! We also plan a massive trip to somewhere in Europe for all our members to blow off some steam and get to know different menbers of the society better.  SPORTS If that wasn't enough we also have two intra-mural football teams and weekly open football sessions for anyone to come along and play in. We also run a mixed netball team that play against other socities as well as MechSoc squash!

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
