Medics' Rugby Club

Medical Society Sub-Committee

We are open to all players regardless of experience and 55% of our members are non-medics.

Sheffield Medicals RUFC are a thriving rugby club founded by students at the university in 1964. We field 3 competitive teams every weekend and we are looking to expand further this year, with the aim of establishing a 4th XV.

The 1st XV currently play in Yorkshire 3 and paly in the National Medical Schools competitions.

The 2nd XV are competing for promotion at the top end of Yorkshire's highest merit leagues.

The 3rd XV play weekly in the South Yorkshire Merit league and against other university societies such as Engineering and History.

Training: Monday fitness sessions, Tuesday squad training, Friday team run through. Matches are played on a Saturday afternoon at the University playing fields.

The club also play in the national medics cup competion (NAMS), intra-mural touch rugby and 7s competitions.

The club is one of the most prominent around the university campus, with players from all courses and year groups. We host weekly socials alongside additional larger events through the year including our annual Old Boys dinner.

For more of a view of what we're about check out our promotional video on youtube.

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
