Vibrant, highly active social society that is supportive of its members, and the rock/alternative music scene both in Sheffield and in the wider world. We are an extremely welcoming and friendly society who aims to make all fans of alternative music feel at home. Whether you're into metal, goth, punk, indie, pop punk, ska, classic rock or any of the other myriad forms of rock music, you're sure to enjoy our society! There are socials at least once a week, ranging from pub meets, meals, festivals, bar crawls, gigs, club nights, etc. This year we are even branching out into sober socials such as bowling and paintball as well as preparing for the next Covid wave by developing a bank of online activities to still give that society feel when yor tucked under the duvet distancing at home! The society is primarily a social one, and we try to ensure that everyone can enjoy our activities; whatever music they're into.

How to contact: There is an informative Facebook Group you can join for advertising and information about the society which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/sheffieldrocksoc or follow us on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/uniofsheffrocksoc/. To keep up-to-date, check the Facebook group to find information of our socials/events, and any local gigs we think members may be interested in. You can also email us with any queries you may have at rocksoc@sheffield.ac.uk.

Cost: £5 - join either at the Activities Fair, online or by talking to any Committee member at any social. Membership also entitles you to various discounts/offers all around Sheffield. For more details on that, and everything else you could ever want to know; see the Facebook group or contact the email address and chat to the committee. We're really excited to meet you and show you the alt scene in Sheffield!

Committee

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
