Have you always wanted to learn how to skate? Are you an experienced skater looking for spots and locals to hang with? Sheffield University Skateboarding Society is the society to join! We accept all skaters, from all disciplines whether beginner, intermediate, or experienced, downhill king, gnarly skate rat or freestyler, everyone is welcome to join in and have a go.  As a member of the society, expect to see regular indoor sessions at our local skatepark when things clear up, The House (meet outside the SU under the concourse on Wednesdays during term time at 2pm), street sessions, local outdoor sessions and lesson sessions held in the nearby parks and the peaks district- and if that wasn't enough, watch out for our trips, day invasions, socials and special events which include competitions with prizes, lots of stunts and loads of steeze.

Everyone is welcome to join or have a go; our community has members old and new, male and female. Photographers, filmers and people who just generally want to relax are also welcome. You can meet and greet everyone you need to know at our Give It A Go sessions which we run during freshers week and throughout the year for all different types of skateboarding (downhill skateboarding, street skating, freestyle longboarding etc).

Membership to the society is £5 and gives you access to club boards, coaching, 10% discount at Lush Longboards? and a 1/3 off at The House (saving our members hundreds last year alone).

For more information about the society, check out the Facebook page which has all the details to group chats and regular information you'd need to stay in the loop.

Email: skatesoc@sheffield.ac.uk For more information about The House skate park give their website a visit.  They've also got a live webcam so you can check out a session if you're feeling bored.

Don't feel afraid to contact the committee via email or the facebook page if you have any questions, and we'll see you out there!

Committee

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
