WELCOME TO SOC SOC!

We are a society for students within the Department of Sociological Studies (Sociology/Social Policy/Digital Media & Society, Applied Social Sciences and Dual Honours degrees), however, anyone with an interest is more than welcome to join. We are here to promote positive relationships between all students and staff through society socials, guest lecturers, trips abroad, sport and even a ball at the end of the year! We have also organized some awesome trips abroad, including Prague in 2018, Krakow in 2019. While unfortunately we are unable to run these events at this moment in time we also run a number of virtual meetups and socially distanced events, look out on social media for updates! Academic and wellbeing support is always on hand with our lovely representatives Sian and Tallulah who will ensure everyone can make the most of uni life, so if you need guidance we are here for all our members. The society also has a successful charities and volunteering division, which all our members are encouraged to be involved in. We're aiming to expand our work further and get SocSoc supporting more charities which members will get a chance to decide on later this year. As a society we run a male football team and a women's netball team. These sports opportunities are a great way to keep active, whilst getting to know new people and spending time with your friends. Our membership deals will include all of the support mentioned above throughout the year, discounted social tickets, deals at numerous pubs and clubs and discounted tickets to our end of year ball. Our society is growing all the time, and we always welcome new members so get involved! We look forward to meeting you!

Committee

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
