Who are we?
Sheffield First Aid Society is a society with a passion for training students in First Aid. We have weekly training sessions on loads of different First Aid skills as well as having regular socials. Some of our society members also volunteer with our partner organisation St John Ambulance, the nation's leading first aid charity!
What do we do?
Through becoming a member of the society, you'll be able to join our Monday night training sessions and learn some first aid. These sessions are very relaxed and will teach you skills useful in all aspects of life, giving you the confidence to step forward when someone needs basic medical attention from dressing a cut to performing CPR! After our sessions we would normally head to Bar One to socialise, but unfortunately COVID-19 happened!
In addition, we are also a Student Volunteering unit within St John Ambulance, meaning you can become a fully-trained operational first aider for St John with us if you fancied! Training for this involves going on a more formal course and revalidations. After this, you'll be able to go out and provide first aid at events across Sheffield and the UK (check out our social media to see where we go!) plus be able to put your society-learnt skills into practice and make a difference to people in need of help.
Neither joining our society nor becoming a SJA first aider require any past experience of first aid or a medical background, so there's no excuse not to come see what we do!
How can you find us?
As a result of COVID-19 we are planning to hold our training sessions virtually. This will be a mix of pre-recorded videos and live online meetings. Hopefully we can meet in person soon!
If you’re interested in joining, sign up to our weekly newsletter where we can let you know about the each week’s sessions:
