University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Societ

We're USLES, the University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society! We are a comedic theatre group, performing two productions a year to raise money for local charities, as voted for by our members. We have been running since 2006, putting on comedy shows and pantomimes written by student members every semester. Our most recent shows were "The Hobbit: Desolation of USLES" and an original play "Life on Mars".

We let anyone join our society, regardless of acting ability. If you want to have fun, meet some awesome people and be involved in creating great comedy, then you are perfectly qualified to join USLES. If being on stage is not for you (and we know it is not for everyone), we would still love to hear from you - we are always on the look out for writers, directors, backstage and tech crews. As an extra incentive, so long as you can make the show dates (and enough rehearsals), you are guaranteed a part!

This semester we won't be able to do anything face to face, but we are planning on doing a radio play (a murder mystery!) If you're interested, look out for our video on the virtual activities fair, there will also be online give it a go sessions for acting, scriptwriting and tech on 21st, 25th and 28th September - we'd love to see you there! To keep updated, we post all our events on our Facebook page 'University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society' at

We look forward to hearing from you!

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
