You could play a part in the future of one of the UK’s most exciting and successful students’ unions, as well as gain valuable skills and experience.
The Students’ Union currently has three vacancies for appointed student trustees (effective from 1 July 2017).
Being a student trustee is a part-time voluntary role. Together with your fellow trustees you’d oversee an organisation that has an integral part in delivering the student experience at the University of Sheffield, and make decisions over the running of the Students’ Union. We are seeking students who are committed to the Students’ Union and its values, and in particular are supportive of student leadership and democracy. Trustees should have good independent judgement, good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Why become a student trustee?
“I feel that being a Trustee was an invaluable experience…It also gave me something to talk about in job interviews and played a part in getting my current job” – Previous SU student trustee
"Becoming a student trustee has given me the unique opportunity to view my SU from a business perspective, providing me with the tools to analyse complex issues and provide recommendations which have a meaningful and lasting impact on our current and future students" – Billy, student trustee
We are keen that the Board reflects the diverse student membership here, and welcome and encourage applications from students of all representative groups, identities, experiences and backgrounds. The appointments will be made based on candidates’ skills and experience against the person specification available from the website below.
