Hello and welcome, you little brave heart!
Well done for your courage to leave your comfy home to explore the world and the fantastic opportunities here in Sheffield. Here we have the BEST rated Students’ Union in the country (for the 5th year running) and a global community of more than 27,000 students of around 150 nationalities.
My name is Ana Gabriela Popa and I am your International Students’ Officer for the 2016/17 term. I am part of a team of 8 people that are making sure your voice is heard. I particularly focus on the representation and empowerment of International students whilst working towards a stronger inclusive community.
My initial advice to you all is get out of your rooms, EXPLORE! Check the Activities Fair, the Sports Fair, the hundreds of societies, the Representative and Working Committees, find what interest you and make friends. I and my team are always around on Level 4 of the Students’ Union if you need any advice or just a friendly face to talk to, especially if you ever feel homesick. Just don’t give up trying new things.
We are here for you whenever you need us!
