Officer Roles Review Proposal

There shall be 7 Full Time Officers, who shall be paid Sabbatical Officers elected to work full time at the Students’ Union for a term of one year.
All Full Time Officers shall be full voting members of the Student Executive Committee and Students’ Union Council and Trustees of the charity.
There shall be 6 Part Time Officers, who shall be paid students, elected to work part time at the Students’ Union for a term of one year.
All Part Time Officers shall be full voting members of the Student Executive Committee, and ex-officio members of the relevant Representative Committee.
The Officer roles, and their responsibilities shall be as follows:

Represent the views, and promote the interests, of students from liberation groups, and those who face systemic barriers to participation at the University.
Lead campaigns to create an environment free from all forms of discrimination.
Develop and support programmes to tackle current issues affecting students from liberation groups and those who face systemic barriers to participation.
Support and coordinate the following Part Time Officers: Women Students, BME Students, Disabled Students, Mature Students, LGBT+ Students.

Develop and support and represent the interests of students on a range of Student-Led activities.
Have oversight over SU social enterprise activities and performance.
Lead on student development and employability.
Be the Officer lead on all SU finances (Treasurer).

Encouraging all student participation in sport and communities.
Develop and support activities that improve the health and wellbeing of all students.
Represent and lobby for students interests on wellbeing and sport to the University and external agencies.

Represent all students’ views and interests on welfare matters, and run campaigns on welfare issues.
Lead the Students' Union's ethical, environmental and sustainability work.

Represent and promote the views and interests of international students.
Develop and support activities that improve the welfare of international students.
Develop and support programmes for student involvement in their communities.
Develop and support programmes that promote the integration of Home and International Students in all university environments and contexts.

Represent and promote the views and interests of Postgraduate students.
Develop and support activities that improve the welfare of Postgraduate students.
Lead on the development of activity to include Postgraduate students in University life.
To be an Ex-officio member of the Postgraduate Students’ Committee

Represent and promote the views and interests of mature students and student parents.
Lead on the development of inclusion and access improvements for mature students and student parents.
Lead on the development of activity to include mature students and student parents in University life.
To be an Ex-officio member of the Mature Students’ Committee

Represent and promote the views and interests of women students.
Lead on the development of inclusion and access improvements for women students.
Lead campaigns to create an environment free from all of forms of discrimination.
To be an Ex-officio member of the Women’s Committee

Represent and promote the views and interests of black and minority ethnic students.
Lead on the development of inclusion and access improvements for black and minority ethnic students.
Lead campaigns to create an environment free from all of forms of discrimination.
To be an Ex-officio member of the Black and Minority Ethnic Students’ Committee

Represent and promote the views and interests of disabled students.
Lead on the development of inclusion and access improvements for disabled students.
Lead campaigns to create an environment free from all of forms of discrimination.
To be an Ex-officio member of the Disabled Students’ Committee

Represent and promote the views and interests of LGBT+ students.
Lead on the development of inclusion and access improvements for LGBT+ students.
Lead campaigns to create an environment free from all of forms of discrimination.
