Hi! I’m Anna, your Education Officer 2018/19 and I want to welcome you to Sheffield Students’ Union.

As your elected representative I’m here to make sure that your time at University is the best it can be, along with the rest of the officer team. As your Education Officer I’m responsible specifically for academic issues related to your student life. From campaigning on Higher Education policy and issues; to sitting on University committees representing the interests of students; supporting the academic representatives; as well as supporting the Postgraduate Students’ and Education Committees.

Postgraduate students face many barriers whilst at University; many of which are completely different to undergrad, that’s why as your Education Officer I’m committed to making a positive impact on PG students lives whilst at Sheffield. If you have any issues, which you think I can help with, please don’t hesitate to contact me. It’s important to remember that the SU is here to represent you.

Anna Crump Raiswell
Students' Union Education Officer 2018/19

Make yourself at Home

Sheffield Students’ Union is not just for undergraduates. It has a variety of flexible spaces ideal for meeting, relaxing, or grabbing a bite to eat. Areas that are popular with our postgraduate students include:

Coffee Revolution: our very own coffee shop, with baristas crafting delicious drinks and tempting treats from local and sustainable suppliers.

Interval Cafe Bar: our laid back kitchen bar, serving up a wide range of drinks and dishes including stone baked pizzas, craft ales, and speciality gins.

New Leaf: build your own salad or wraps from fresh and tasty ingredients.

Our Zero Waste Shop: the latest addition to our SU sells wholefoods without the packaging and sustainable household goods.

Postgraduate Representation

Getting involved with Students’ Union Council is a great way to meet new people from across the University as well as being a voice for Postgraduate Students at Sheffield. Nominations open Monday 24th September for all positions on SU Council, including Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research Councillors.

You could become an Academic Rep as well. Represent your classmates to your department, improve your course and work closely with academic staff. Anyone can volunteer to become an Academic Rep, simply contact your department or head to our website.

If you sign up to be an academic rep and if you're interested in taking on a further role, consider joining Postgraduate Committee. It provides a voice to postgraduates across the university and works closely with the SU to enhance your student experience.

Postgraduate Support

Our own Student Advice Centre offers advice, support and representation for students on issues relating to your course, your finances or your accommodation. They also specialise in many postgraduate specific issues such as postgraduate funding and PhD supervision. Visit their website for advice, self help material, and their contact details
