Hello! We are the Nature and Wildlife Society (WildSoc)!

Join us to discover and explore the amazing wildlife, scientific research and natural spaces in and around Sheffield. We're always excited to welcome new members and to share our love for nature and wildlife with you all!

We are proud to announce that we are the WINNERS of "Society of the Year" AND "Best Special Interest Society" for 2019-20 (also Best Special Interest Society for 2011-12 and 2013-14).

This year, we have adapted a number of our popular events to be held online (until we're able to meet you all in person!), including:

VIRTUAL TALKS from Sheffield staff and researchers, and fascinating external speakers!

VIRTUAL ATTENBOROUGH NIGHTS where we stream wildlife documentaries online, whilst you enjoy hot drinks and snacks from the comfort of your own home!

VIRTUAL QUIZZES to test your nature knowledge and unwind after busy days of lectures!

Our annual PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION held in the spring term to share your wildlife snaps for a chance at winning exciting prizes!

We also hope to reintroduce events that we have enjoyed in the past, including:

WALKS to beautiful places in Sheffield and the Peak District

TRIPS to museums, zoos and aquariums

SOCIALS including games nights, and the occassional bar crawl

A VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMME to educate young people about nature and sustainability, which you can get involved in!

(Reintroduction of these events will be considered in line with changing UK Government guidelines on COVID-19 safety measures and Sheffield Students' Union advice).

We have reduced our membership prices for this year, given the current situation and our reduced ability to deliver our usual events. It costs just £4 for a 1 year membership, £2 for a semester membership, or £10 for a lifetime membership - this will last you for all of your years at university!

We hope that you will join us for some nature-themed fun! :)

WildSoc is committed to making sure everyone feels welcome to our events, and we are dedicated to inclusion and diversity.

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
