University of Sheffield has been crowned the Sheffield Varsity champions for a third year running.

This year’s competition has remained a constant battle between the two universities with University of Sheffield managing to maintain the lead throughout.

The final Varsity event was the Ice Hockey, which took place at Motorpoint Arena saw an amazing attendance of 7,731. Your great Black and Gold support has set a new record for the highest attendance at a Varsity Ice Hockey match outside of North America. The game finished with a score of 2 - 1 to Sheffield Hallam University. This left the overall result for the competition at 37 - 34 to University of Sheffield.

Jonny Block, your Sports Officer, commented:

I am absolutely delighted that we have won Sheffield Varsity for the third year in a row. It is a testament to the hard work and commitment of all our students and the great staff that support them! Let’s go Uni, Let’s go!
