Zero waste market

It's official... Student Market Society and the Green Impact project students are launching Sheffield Students' Union's first ever Zero Waste Market! It'll be in the Activities Zone all afternoon from 12pm to 6pm. So don't forget your reusable bags!

The impact of single use plastic has been in the news a lot recently... and following on from on from Development Officer Megan McGrath's Reusable Revolution, this student-led Zero Waste Market is the perfect response! Anyone can come along to browse and buy all sorts of exciting innovative products made by students and local companies who care deeply about leaving the world better than we found it.

There will be products like Mon Savon soap and eco jewellery from Pert as a Pyet / Sheffield Makers... but it's not all about buying things, you can also get creative. Attendees can: Decorate a tote bag! Bring a glass jar and make a mini terrarium (like a miniature bonsai world!). There will be a Repair Cafe, so bring along broken items that need fixing. Or if you've got old books on your shelves, join in the Book Swap.

If you're feeling really keen, there's still time to apply to be a student / society stallholder (apply via the facebook event above). And you can join in with the pre-event, zero waste signboard crafting 6pm on Wednesday 14th in Coffee Revolution:

So... don't waste this opportunity! Market in your diaries now!
