Meet in Diamond 2nd Floor, Computer Room 2

Advanced Solidworks 5-Week Course

Want to be more confident in using Solidworks after learning the basics? This course will teach you how to use the Solidworks software in a more advanced and technical way, for example; complex 3D sketching by using advanced techniques, utilising the features of the design library as well as troubleshooting and fixing errors. The course will also include a brief introduction to Solidworks visualise, which will allow you to quickly and easily produce compelling, professional visual content. Having taken this course, you will be proficient in Solidworks and able to make aesthetic and practical designs. A certificate will be given for full completion of the course.

This is a society led session and is HEAR accredited.

This is a five week course running weekly on Fridays.

The course runs from  22nd February - 22nd March 2019

£25/pp

Meet in Diamond 2nd Floor, Computer Room 4

MATLAB Essentials 5-Week Course

Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) is a powerful technical programming software used in Engineering, Finance, Architecture and many other industries. Whether you are analysing data, developing algortihms or creating models, this course will teach you over 5 weeks the fundamentals of MATLAB scripting, starting with basic mathematics and statements before moving on to carrying out functions, analyses and calculus. You will learn to produce process images and experience the many add-ons in MATLAB including Simulink which is used for dynamic and embedded system control design.

This is a society led session and is HEAR accredited.

This runs for 5 weeks, weekly on Mondays from the 18th February - 18th March 2019

ANSYS CFD 5-Week Course

Ever wanted to know the downforce produced by your favourite sports car but never had the money to buy it? (if you are a student we understand) The ANSYS CFD course is for you. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) allows you to simulate internal flow (through pipes) and external flows (over and around objects) to help you determine the outcome before running real experiments. In the first week of the course you will be guided on how to use the ANSYS workbench and model 2D laminar flow problems. By Week 5, you will have been exposed to 3D geometry and meshing, tackled different flow models and introduced to convective heat transfer.

This is a society led session and is HEAR accredited.

This is a 5 week course, running weekly on Wednesdays.

Course runs from 20th February - 20th March 2019

£25/pp

Meet in Diamond 2nd Floor, Computer Room 4

ANSYS Structural 5-Week Course

Want to solve real-life, complex mechanical problems? Learn the basics of using ANSYS Mechanical to perform finite element analysis (FEA). ANSYS is a very widely used, versatile analysis software in industry, with a workbench interface that is one of the better ones out there. The skills gained are extremely beneficial especially to any engineering career. In this course, you will be first introduced to finite element methods and learn to conduct 2D FE Analyses, before delving into meshing complex geometry and 3D Structural Analysis. By the end of the course you will be knowlegable in the techniques used to improve FE models and carry out design verification.

This is a society led session and is HEAR accredited.

LaTeX 2-Week-Challenge Course

Do you find yourself spending hours on formatting your report right before the deadline? If you are writing a report with lots of figures, equations, cross-references (the list goes on), then LaTeX is perfect for you! LaTeX allows you to easily format your report, add citations, tables and more. Produce elegant, high-quality documents with less effort -- most publications in the fields of mathematics, science and engineering use LaTeX as the preferred typesetting system. You can focus on the content of your document, while LaTeX will handle the formatting to ensure consistently professional results. In this course, you will learn how to typeset not just documents, but presentations and graphics as well.
