Description

About

We are a group of students that run events & campaigns raising awareness of student welfare issues. New people/ideas always welcome! We meet Tuesdays 6-7pm usually in Hicks Seminar room F20.

Mission

We meet weekly to come up with new ideas for our campaigns and events. During the last academic year our campaigns included:

- Sharing our knowledge and experience of student housing at the Union's Housing Fair

- Helping students beat the winter blues with our Winter Well Being campaign

- Helping students find new housemates at our annual House Mate Finder event

- Sharing our money saving tips during National Student Money Week

- Raising awareness of the number of units in our favourite alcoholic drinks during our Alcohol Awareness Campaign and pub quiz

By getting involved in Welfare Committee you get the opportunity to be involved in unique campaigns, meet new people, learn new skills and help your fellow students! Last year Welfare Committee was shortlisted for the Union's Best Working and Representative Committee so if you are interested in student welfare, event planning or just want to meet new people by being part of a fun and exciting committee, come along and get involved!

Description

We organise and run exciting campaigns and events in the Students' Union, University and Student Villages to engage with students on a range of welfare issues from housing and budgeting to alcohol awareness and mental health.

Working with the Welfare Officier, the Activities Officier and other committees, we work hard to ensure all students are represented and know how to get help on the issues that affect them!

Feel free to come along to one of our meetings! They are every Tuesday from 6-7pm in Hicks F20 (any change published on Facebook and twitter)

General information

If you like the sound of Welfare Committee it's very easy to get involved, and it's totally free and open to everyone! All of our meetings take place on Tuesdays 6-7pm. We always welcome new people and new ideas so whether you just want to meet new people or have a specific welfare interest, come along and find out more!
