Sheffield Volunteering supports 2000+ students annually to get involved in the community. Based in the External Engagement Team within the UK’s No. 1 Students’ Union, an exciting opportunity has arisen for two passionate and experienced administrators.
For both roles, we are looking for a highly effective administrator with a sound understanding of the motivations / barriers for university students and organisations in relation to involving students. Highly organised, you will be able to plan effectively and manage resources / people, with skill and confidence.
Always friendly, calm and efficient, you’ll excel at dealing with a high volume of enquiries, applications and competing demands. You’ll also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to maximise opportunities and resolve concerns.

With data entry experience and a flair for spreadsheets, you’ll be confident in using tools like filtering and basic formulas to collate information and problem solve. With a good eye for detail, you’ll enjoy supporting the team by keeping a careful track of all tasks. A people person, you’ll revel in enabling students to get involved and in giving a first-rate service – so that students feel valued, continue to volunteer and recommend us to others.
Role 2: Projects Administrator (24.5 hours per week – worked over 4 week days, pattern negotiable- term time only- 38 weeks between September and July)
With event planning experience and a flair for organisation, you’ll understand how to successfully promote volunteering to students – including the use of social media. And show that you value both volunteers’ and stakeholders’ interests when designing timelines, tasks and communication. With a real heart for community engagement, you’ll enjoy responding to interest from students, schools, voluntary groups or charities, building relationships to make things happen, keep records and be diligent in achieving targets and outcomes.
Note: If for any reason you wish to be considered for only one of these roles, please do advise us on your application form. Otherwise, we will assess your suitability for both roles.
