UCU Guidance

Are you a staff member at the University unsure on how you can help with the boycott? Expand the below to read the advice from the University and College Union (UCU)

This is what you can do:

  1. Draw students' attention to the campaign, and point out that it's supported nationally and locally by both the students' unions and Universities and Colleges Union;
  2. Have a Students' Union rep say a few words about the boycott before or after lectures. To arrange this, contact SU education officer Ali Day (ali.day@sheffield.ac.uk) and/or SU TEF campaigner Josh Berlyne (jwberlyne1@sheffield.ac.uk);
  3. Incorporate into your teaching a discussion of the social, cultural, and political contexts of TEF.

There are restrictions as to what you can and can't do, but you shouldn't miss the opportunity to engage with students around an issue that affects all of us. You're not allowed to personally encourage students to boycott -- you can find legal advice from UCU here; it applies to both UCU members and non-members -- but you can show your support through other means, some of which are listed above.

Don't worry! If you've already filled in the NSS and have changed your mind it's really simple to get your data deleted meaning it will not contribute to the TEF. All you have to do is email Ipsos MORI by clicking on the following link... and insert your name and course into the relevant areas.
