Our SU Springs Back

As lockdown restrictions begin to lift we’re planning for our SU building and in-person activities to spring back to life as soon as permitted and safe to do so.

Here is an overview of the key government roadmap milestones and our own plans to reopen and resume in person activity at each stage.

From Monday 29th March: Stay at home order ends

Inox Dine and Uni Central remain accessible for study space (though close for Easter Weekend Fri 2nd -Mon 5th April). Our main SU building remains closed.

Organised outdoor sport opportunities resume through Sport Sheffield.

From Monday 12th April: Government Restrictions Reduced

Weather permitting, Bar One will once again be opening up its garden for food, drink, and some much-needed fun in the sun. We’ll be releasing more information about its reopening soon, so follow our socials for updates!

Sheffield Volunteering will be resuming some in-person projects and Sport Sheffield will also be reopening its gym and swimming pool facilities.

From Monday 19th April: University Term 3 Begins

The SU building will open its doors once again to provide expanded study space for students. We’ll also be reopening Coffee Revolution for takeaways, and as well as Our Shop and Sheffield SU Store.

From Monday 17th May: Government Restrictions Further Reduced

We’ll be expanding both our in-person and indoor service. Our bars and cafes will be able to serve customers indoors, and our Film Unit cinema will return.

An in-person Give it a Go programme will be running, alongside other in-person student activities. All activity will be carefully risk assessed to ensure they are covid safe and working within government guidelines.

Organised indoor sport opportunities resume through Sport Sheffield.

From Monday 21st June: ‘Lockdown’ Restrictions End

Larger events and club nights return including our Forgotten Students Freshers Week bringing together your favourite SU club nights to celebrate the end of a turbulent year.

Our SU roadmap is subject to change and dependent on decisions made by the government and the University of Sheffield. However, we’re working hard to deliver more opportunities for you to meet and socialise, and enjoy activities and entertainment in-person. We hope you will be able to join us here soon!

Our SU building reopens and in-person activities return this spring!
