How To Get Started

Follow these steps & you'll be volunteering in no time. And the best thing about it is that you can do it right from the comfort of your sofa.

1) Sign up to our online SV Hub

The SV Hub is an online search engine which is crammed full of hundreds of volunteering opportunities. It takes 5 minutes to sign up and you can log in at anytime from anywhere. Click here to sign up now.

2) Find a project that interests you

Once you have registered, you can log in and start to search. To begin, click 'Volunteering' > 'Find New Opportunities.' As there are so many projects to choose from, we recommend that you narrow your search by a few of these options:

  • the type of volunteering your interested in by selecting a category
  • days of the week that you're free
  • search using a specific keyword (e.g 'law')

Your search will bring up lots of options with a brief summary of each opportunity. Click on the title to read more information about the role.

3) Get in contact

Once you've found something that interests you, click the 'Register Interest' button to get the contact details. You can now give them a call or send them an email to find out more about the project and how to sign up.

Remember by contacting organisations, you are not committing yourself straight away, so remember to jot down any questions you want to ask them so that you can make sure it's the right opportunity for you.

We recommend that you give them a call as this is the quickest way to get started. If the advert says 'run by Sheffield Volunteering' then come and see us in the office to sign up or find out more.
