Travel discounts

As a student, you can get discounts on travel in Sheffield, travel in UK and travel across the world.

Bus / trams

There are two main bus companies in Sheffield - First and Stagecoach. A single student fare on both Stagecoach and First buses costs £1 as long as you display your ucard. Both First and Stagecoach offer weekly, termly and annual tickets to students. Stagecoach UniRider passes can be used on both buses and trams and the First Term Deal offers unlimited travel for £45.00.

You can also buy discounted travel passes from the University.

Rail cards

With a 16-25 railcard, you can get 1/3 off most rail fares throughout Great Britain. You can buy a card for 1 year for £30 or for 3 years for £70 (2/7/2014)).

If you are over 25 and a full time student, you CAN still buy a 16-25 railcard. You need apply at the train station and provide proof of your student status but once you’ve done this, you can enjoy buying cheaper tickets too!

ISIC Cards

All full time students can buy an International Student Identity Cards (ISIC). ISIC cards are internationally recognised student identity cards. You can use your ISIC card in the UK and in over 100 countries worldwide to get discounts on everything from flight tickets to digital downloads. ISIC cards cost £12 (2/7/2014).

You can apply for an ISIC card by filling in a form available from STA website. You need to prove that you are a full time student when you apply.
